BECOME A PARTICIPANT…
If you have a physical disability or a mobility issue and would like to be raised up into the air and experiment with movement in a harness on bungees we are looking for you. The rigging is safety tested and the volunteers have been trained in safety procedures by Karen Fuhrman Director of Grounded Aerial Dance Company in New York. We place safety first. We will be taking things very slow when you first join us and slowly build up as you become more confident and comfortable in the harness and with your movement capabilities. You will always have a one on one spotter on the ground at all times who will be guiding and controlling your participation till a level of competency is acquired. You will never be asked to do anything you are not ready to do. You will learn at your own speed and comfort level. We will monitor your time in the harness and be checking for any discomfort. Generally we do not spend more than twenty minutes maximum in the harness. Be prepared to go through many adjustments of the harness before we find the exact place where each strap needs to be. Also be prepared for hands on help as we will need to adjust straps on your legs and hips. You will be asked to sign a waiver for insurance purposes. Contact Beth at seadance@eastlink.ca for more information or if you would like become a participant This experience provided me with a much needed form of artistic expression and gave me the opportunity to use parts of my body I thought were lost, all while building my strength" April Hubbard
